Abe Nouk

I'm seriously pumped to be working again in 2016 in a phenomenal purpose-driven startup social enterprise called Space2b Social Design

Founded by Janine Lawrie and Mariam Issa of Raw Garden this is a business that is changing lives through workplace mentoring, authentic storytelling, marketplace pop-ups and social cause networking events around Melbourne (the sellout event with barrister and Human Rights advocate Julian Burnside last November was headlined by this guy pictured above - ABE NOUK - the inspirational change-maker I really want to talk about.

If you don't know Abe, you should. Seriously. Look him up. He is compelling, and perhaps the greatest champion for positive change around people seeking asylum Australia has right now. He also happens to be one of THE MOST articulate, poetic, big-thinking people I have come across in a long while - a champion for humanity, no matter your tribe.

After fleeing South Sudan with his single mother and seven brothers and sisters and landing in Australia as UN High Commission designated refugees, Abe could not read or write a word of English but decided to give it a crack - and found he was good. Actually, ridiculously good (despite the fact that he stutters in his own language). His learning curve was virtually vertical, such that by 2013 he was an Australian Poetry Grand Slam Finalist and now travels the world as a spoken-word poet, hip-hop fanatic, founder of Creative Rebellion Youth, author, MC and teacher of narrative cultivation and storytelling.

Abe's a believer in open palms, open conversations, honesty, bravery and the art of language to tap the common seam that runs through humanity. He knows the transformational power of storytelling and its capacity to ignite change. ✨

You can check out Abe's spellbinding poetic riffs on YouTube and his take on the world on his fast-patter social platforms.

I look forward to bringing what energy, innovations and skills I can to the Space2b table throughout 2016 - watch this space for some exciting industry collabs and business partnerships to be announced soon.
